  15.   Thank you for purchasing your EtherPCI LAN Card II from Linksys.  The 
  16.   instructions below explain how to set up the card's software drivers 
  17.   for use with your network software.
  18.   
  19.   Be sure to read the User Guide before installing your card.  In addition,
  20.   please make note of these hardware & software guidelines:
  21.   
  22.     *   When loading the EMM386.EXE program in your computer's CONFIG.SYS, 
  23.         you MUST use version MS-DOS 6.22 or above.  If you load an older 
  24.         EMM386.EXE program (below DOS 6.22), your computer will hang up while 
  25.         loading the network driver. 
  26.  
  27.     *   Plug-and-play computers have a number of expansion slots inside.
  28.         Each slot has a pre-assigned interrupt (IRQ) and I/O address (MEM). 
  29.         When the Linksys LAN Card is inserted into a PCI slot, the PC's 
  30.         BIOS should automatically assign a unique IRQ & MEM value for the 
  31.         network card.

  33.         In most cases, the card should work fine using the pre- 
  34.         assigned IRQ and I/O addresses.  Occasionally, however, the 
  35.         card may have an IRQ conflict with other adapters in the system. 
  36.         If this happens, you will need to change the IRQ setting of the 
  37.         LAN Card manually.  There are three possibilities: 
  38.  
  39.                 - Your PCI may not allow you to change the IRQ value(s) of 
  40.                   the PCI slot(s).  In this case, you will ONLY be able to 
  41.                   use the IRQ & MEM values that have been pre-assigned to 
  42.                   each slot. 
  43.  
  44.                 - You may be able to change the IRQ & MEM values for a given 
  45.                   PCI slot by setting jumpers on your PC's mother board. 
  46.                   Please refer to your PC's motherboard user guide for 
  47.                   specific instructions.

  49.                 - Your PC may allow you to change the IRQ & MEM values for 
  50.                   a given PCI slot by accessing the PC's BIOS setup menu. 
  51.                   Please refer to your PC's user guide for specific details.

  53.                   Although it is advisable to set a unique IRQ address for 
  54.                   each PCI slot, depending on your PC, you may or may not 
  55.                   be able to do so.

  60.    Install your Linksys network card into your computer, then start
  61.    the LANtastic installation software.
  62.  
  63.    1. When installation program asks for a network drivers,
  64.       select "NDIS Support for Network Adapters".
  65.  
  66.    2. Insert the Linksys Program disk into drive A:.  When asked
  67.       for the pathname to open, type A:\ and press Enter.

  69.    3. Follow the directions that appear on your screen and complete
  70.       the installation.

  109.    To access the Linksys Bulletin Board System (BBS), set your modem to
  110.    8 bits, No parity, 1 stop bit, and call (714) 261-2888.  Use a speed 
  111.    setting of 33.6bps or slower.  When downloading files, use the "Z-modem" 
  112.    download protocol for best results.
